History

MCA and NCLC

Another method envisioned by the Apostle to effectively reach out to more people is through a holistic Christian education. By providing a distinctive Christian education through the Church’s schools, not only will children be given adequate education in language, math, history and other secular subjects, these young students will be given a solid moral foundation and strong moral character.

The parents of these children enrolled in Church’s schools will also be witnesses to the power of the Word of God. They will see the positive influence the school has on their children and this will in turn give honor and glory to God. Their hearts will become more receptive to the gospel thus leading to more souls receiving salvation.

The Apostle’s vision slowly took shape in 1980, when the school started from an informal preschool class of thirteen pupils conducted in a single story building in Marikina. Her industrious wife, Ptr. Let Ferriol was there from day one of the founding of the church’s educational arm. It soon grew to a full preschool offering nursery, kindergarten and preparatory classes becoming Maranatha Preschool in the process. In 1987, grades 1 and 2 were offered. In the succeeding years, the next grade levels were added. In 1990, the school no longer had to undergo the process of renewing its permit every year for it was given recognition after grades 1-6 was completed. In the same year, the first batch of elementary students graduated.

As the construction of the building proceeded, the classes and faculty of the school grew too. In 1990, the Maranatha Christian Academy was recognized, offering preschool, grade school and high school, with its first batch of high school pupils graduating in 1994.

The 1990s saw the rise of the school in the field of performing arts. From 1995 to 1998, they dominated the division contests in Marikina in the speech choir competition. The outstanding performance of material like The Champion, Reverse Creation, Marikina Aking Hirang and The Combat in the Arena brought acclaim to the school. So much so that the school’s performers were asked to perform in the centennial celebration of Marikina City at the Marikina Riverpark. The school also excelled in the division athletic meets and sports competitions, not only in Marikina but in the NCR meet as well.

The school is very popular with its "chapel hour." This is where students are given the time to reflect and meditate on the words of God. This is the time where they can evaluate their lives and see how they fit in God’s great scheme. Although not required, many pupils and their parents were blessed by this activity. Students now have a better grasp of their future and their lives; excelling in academics in order to give glory to God.

The school has experienced steady and consistent growth through the years. Now, it has largely increased both its population and building structure, composed of a six-story building and an eight-story annex building. It is a far cry from its modest beginnings of few students, limited sections and makeshift classrooms. Faculty members not only teach classes; most, if not all, attend Bible classes and do evangelical work. Students are taught the rigors of academics, with the passion and understanding coming from people serving the Lord.

The National Christian Life College was born in 2002; the school now offered courses in the collegiate level. A College of Education was established. Looking back, many of the teachers didn’t even think how all these things have come into place. From very modest beginnings, the school is now what it is. All these success and evolution is owed to the great work and dedication of the school’s faculty, students and parents. But most of all, we owe it to God, who turned one man’s vision into the institution representing that vision.

Today, the entire organization of the MCA, MCS, and NCLC serves thousands of students belonging to preschool, elementary, tertiary level. The school’s teaching corps consists of volunteers. This being the case, the teachers are not driven by monetary rewards but purely out of a selfless desire to give their students the best possible education they can get. Following the example of the Apostle, they are genuinely concerned about the welfare of their students.
